Personally, only a few musical artists can get away with cursing and obscenities in their songs. Though there are a lot of singers who include such words who are mostly censored by conservative people, there are bands like Blink 182 who can get away with it. Another one is Jack’s Mannequin.

Jack’s Mannequin, for me, was only interesting at first because of Andrew McMahon. This guy, former Something Corporate member, is a fantastic pianist. He is so talented he can captivate you when he starts playing the piano.

Andrew is also gifted with words, it turns out. In some of the songs in the album Everything in Transit, he showcases his flair for words. He was able to tell a great story through the album. Each song has a clear message that everyone can relate to. He was able to vividly paint a picture in a listener’s mind through his words.

When you listen to Bruised, you will hear the story of a boy who finds it hard to leave somebody behind. With the help of Andrew’s writing ability, you will be able to vividly picture the image in your mind. Combined with metaphors and other languages, he is able to make you understand what he has to say.

I’m Ready will help you get over a break up fast. It will inspire you to do something good for yourself so that you will feel better. Aside from the great lyric, the song possesses a very good melody and sound. This will surely appeal to any listener. And who can forget this line: My life has become a boring pop song and everyone is singing along?

What you’ll love from this album is the way the beat and melody is composed and arranged. Songs like La La Lie will get you humming without you knowing it. Dark Blue has an excellent piano arrangement. Its melody will appeal to every single person listening to it. This is one single where you can really see just how good Andrew is with the piano. Combined with simple and relatable lyrics, the piano arrangement effortlessly makes this single amazingly great.

Other tracks in the album like Miss Delaney has lyrics that clearly paints an image in your mind. Such songs will put a stamp in your mind because not only was it well-written, it also has a very good sound to it. It can even get you up and dancing. Rescued, is another beautiful song but unlike Miss Delaney, this is very calming, something you can even use to put you to sleep. In this track, Andrew’s flair for playing the piano is clearly evident.

Jack’s Mannequin’s Everything in Transit, aside from being a very well-made record, is a testament to Andrew McMahon’s talent in writing and playing the piano.
